A Summer Cleaning Program - Tackling the Kid’s Rooms

toys.jpgEvery year, my husband goes off to college for a Summer Masters program.  He leaves on Monday and returns Thursday night.  While he is away, the kids stay with Grandma and come home every Thursday to stay with us through the weekend.  The arrangement has worked out well.  Grandma loves to see the kids, I don’t have to worry about babysitters and the kids get spoiled rotten.

The best part about this situation is the free time I have with no children tearing apart the house!  I spend the entire 6 weeks cleaning, decluttering and organizing.  That may not sound like much fun to you and believe me, sometimes I’d rather be laying around by the pool!  But the sense of satisfaction I get when I look around at a clean, orderly house is so great that I spend my summer doing this every year. Q&A: Roll-Out Double Drawers vs. Two-Tiered Cabinet Drawers

Roll-Out Double Cabinet OrganizersQuestion: Could you please tell me the difference between a roll-out double and a two-tier sliding shelf? I know the height is different, but I want to know the difference in the mechanics. In other words, with the roll-out double do both tiers come forward as opposed to just one in the two-tier sliding? Thank you.

Answer: Essentially, the two are the same thing. The name is based on what the manuacturer chooses to call it.Stackable Organizer They both have 2 levels and both levels pull out at the same time. You cannot pull out one level and Two-Tier Organizernot the other. If you are looking for something on 2 levels with the option to slide out a drawer but leave the rest in place, you can try our Stackable Chrome Shelf Organizer. The bottom drawer pulls out but the top portion is a shelf so those things would stay stationary. However, it is stackable so if you have the height allowance in your cabinets, you can stack two together to get the double level drawers and still have a top shelf to store things. This particular piece does not install with hardware so you can easy remove it it you want to. The roll-out double and two-tier sliding shelves DO require hardware installation. Here at Space Savers, we have different preferences. Some of us prefer the Double/Two Tier while some of us prefer the stackable shelf. The main reason for the difference in preferences is the installation method.I hope this helps you in your decision! Happy Organizing!

Closet Mayhem

I finally went through and organized my dresser drawers. It was a hassle but I’m glad I did it. I love how much easier it is finding clothes to wear in the morning. There just one problem, I want to put my pants and shoes in my closet but have no room. I have a small closet with no doors to it. Plus, I have a tote full of winter clothes in my closet. It takes up all the floor room. I’ve tried putting my shoes on top of the tote but they just get in the way of my shirts.

I am thinking about getting a double hang. It would provide space for my pants in the closet but I’m afraid it would hang too low. This wouldn’t be a problem if I had somewhere else to put my tote. I’ve tried under my bed but it’s too tall. I’m not sure what I’m going to do with it. If any one has any suggestions please leave a comment. It would be very helpful. Thanks
