Packing Up For School
I was finally able to organize my room the way I like it. It looks really nice now. But it’s that time of year again where I have to pack up all my stuff up for shool. This year I’m going to get a whole lot of Space Bags. They work great for packing a lot of clothes with limited space.
I am thinking about buying a Sterilite trunk or something like it. Since all of my suitcases are going to be filled with clothes; I need something to put all my other stuff in. My plan for this year is to limit the amount of bags I use. Every year I end up with two or three trash bags full of my stuff. I would like to use something else that doesn’t rip easily. Now that I think about it, I might need two trunks!

Living the “Green” Life
Growing up with a tree-hugging mother and a flower child step-mother, I was destined to learn the ways of the “environmental force”. I do remember weekends being spent picking up aluminum cans along the sides of roads. I learned at an early age how to tie a newspaper bundle. I was a founding member of our local Earth Club. Everything was composted, shredded, coded, sorted, crushed, repurposed and or recycled.
I sheepishly admit that by the time i got to college, I got burned out. It was so much to do! So much to remember! And as a freshman in college, although it was considered cool to think “green”, saving the planet was the last thing on my mind. I was too busy trying to save myself from freshman year overload!
Living a “green” life may seem a bit overwhelming at first, but it’s just like every other big change in life. You need to take it a little bit at a time. When it comes to our environment, every little bit helps! And when done in baby steps, you soon get into the habit and discover it’s easy being “green”! Continue Reading »

A Summer Cleaning Program - Tackling the Kid’s Rooms
Every year, my husband goes off to college for a Summer Masters program. He leaves on Monday and returns Thursday night. While he is away, the kids stay with Grandma and come home every Thursday to stay with us through the weekend. The arrangement has worked out well. Grandma loves to see the kids, I don’t have to worry about babysitters and the kids get spoiled rotten.
The best part about this situation is the free time I have with no children tearing apart the house! I spend the entire 6 weeks cleaning, decluttering and organizing. That may not sound like much fun to you and believe me, sometimes I’d rather be laying around by the pool! But the sense of satisfaction I get when I look around at a clean, orderly house is so great that I spend my summer doing this every year. Continue Reading »

The Secret to Cleaning A Ceramic Sink
I learned a great way to clean a ceramic sink!
Our old house had a stainless steel sink in the kitchen and I loved it. But when we moved to our new house, no more stainless steel sink. Instead, I got a glaring white ceramic sink.
It’s pretty. It’s white. I have 3 children. Coffee , tea , spaghetti sauce, you name it and it has hit that sink at some point or another. Trying to keep it pretty and white became a chore. Continue Reading »
